In Loving Memory of Ray Gerber Ray Gerber was a man of many talents whose life was defined by hard work, generosity, and unwavering faith. Whether he was cutting hair as a barber, creating products as a manufacturer, collecting treasured keepsakes, or preparing a meal for those he loved, Ray approached everything he did with skill, passion, and a servant's heart. Above all else, Ray loved the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he did his best each day to walk according to the Word of God. His actions reflected his beliefs, and he touched countless lives through his kindness, humility, and willingness to help others. Ray was a devoted father to his two surviving sons, Andrew Gerber (Jackie) and Matthew Gerber (Brenda). His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Navea, Ja'Taya, and A'Vaughn, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Gerber; his parents, Henry and Helen Gerber; and his siblings. Ray found joy in life's simple blessings—serving the Lord, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, tending to his plants, and making memories with those he loved. He never met a stranger, and everyone who crossed his path was greeted with warmth, conversation, and genuine kindness. His welcoming spirit made people feel like family, no matter where they came from. Ray's legacy is one of faith, love, generosity, and perseverance. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. While our hearts grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing that he faithfully lived for the Lord and has now entered His eternal presence. "Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23 He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family for generations to come. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the 3 p.m. funeral service on Friday June 26, 2026 at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
