Ruth I West Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth I. West, 93, of Kankakee and formerly of Bradley passed away Friday, April 20, 2018. She was born October 6, 1924 in Danville, IL to William R. and Helen (Dables) Wakeley. Ruth married W.E. (Gene) West June 20, 1943 in Danville, IL. She was a loving homemaker and a member of the Women’s Guild of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles, fishing, golfing, cards and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by 3 children; Carol (Tom) Januski of Prescott, AZ, William R. (Ruth) West of Bradley, IL and Marsha (Jerry) Casteel of Bradley. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Amy (Terry) O’Hara, Bill West Jr., Melissa (Casteel) Anton Poliakov, David (Ashley) Januski, Tim (Heather) Casteel, 8 great grand children; Erkia (Kyle) Smith, Kayli O’Hara, T.J. O’Hara, Abbey O’Hara, Daniel Januski, Matthew Januski, Henry Januski and Alex Poliakov, 2 great great grandchildren; Tate Smith and Natalie Tryban and a brother, Robert E. (Kathleen)Wakely. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. The visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. The funeral will follow at 11 am with Rev. Emily Sauer officiating. Burial will be at Kankakee Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or the American Cancer Society.
