Vicky Lynn Mazza

Vicky Lynn Mazza, 73, of Kankakee, Illinois, passed away on August 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and countless lives made better simply by knowing her. Vicky was born on February 26, 1953, in Kankakee to Roy and Mary Putnam, both of whom preceded her in death. From an early age, she had a gift for making people feel welcome, a quality that would come to define every chapter of her life. On May 1, 1971, Vicky married, David Mazza. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage this year, building a life rooted in family and devotion. Vicky considered motherhood her greatest life's work, and she poured herself into raising her daughters with fierce, unwavering love. Known affectionately as "Mama Mazza," she was not only a mother to her own children but a neighborhood mom who stepped in to offer guidance, encouragement, and those legendary hugs to any young person who needed a little extra support. Vicky, sometimes called Victoria by those close to her, built a meaningful career around her passion for cosmetology. She owned and operated a salon from her home, where she cultivated a loyal community of senior clients who looked forward to her company as much as her skill. She also spent 20 years working at Victoria's Secret before retiring, and during that time she left a lasting impression on countless clients and coworkers alike. Beyond the salon chair, Vicky filled her life with creativity and joy. She loved gardening, home decorating, drawing, making ceramics, and even practiced karate. She was always ready to dance, and she had a deep love of music, especially country. Her smile could light up any room; she never met a stranger. She had a rare ability to make everyone around her feel truly seen and special. Vicky is survived by her beloved husband, David Mazza; her daughters, Susan Mazza and her partner Daryl Martin, Lisa Mazza Hamilton and her spouse Cameron Hamilton; and the many lives she touched throughout her years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole Mazza, and her parents, Roy and Mary Putnam. While Vicky's faith was quiet and personal, those who loved her find comfort in knowing that a spirit as generous and loving as hers has found eternal peace. A small funeral will be held Saturday, August 15th, 11AM at Limestone Cemetery.
