Patricia Ann Clemans

Patricia Ann Clemans, age 92, of Kankakee passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee. She was born May 4th, 1934, in Kankakee to Eddie and Leona (Saathoff) Farman, Pat was raised with her older brother Dwayne in the family house of her grandfather on south 4th street. “Patty” was a member of the high school Glee Club, played the accordion, and was a free spirit, cruising Kankakee on her Cushman motor scooter. She met Rusell Clemans at the skating rink at the old Radeke Brewery. Patty Farman was just a freshman at Kankakee HS when she and Russ began dating. He was working on the furniture delivery truck for Sears and Roebuck. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and was known to race them occasionally on the frozen Kankakee River, so the cute scooter riding Patty was a perfect fit. Russ gave sophomore Patty an engagement ring for Christmas in 1950, and she (along with several of her classmates) showed up for the first day of post-Christmas break to turn in her books and get married in the spring of 1951. Russell became a 28-year member of the Kankakee Police department, retiring in 1978, and Patricia worked as a school bus driver and store clerk while raising their family. Kathy was their first born in 1952 followed by Connie in 1953, Gary in 1957, and Terry in 1964. Pat and her mother were very close, hosting the holiday meals that featured self-picked and canned tomato sauces, fresh blueberry, peach and apple pies, vegetables, cookies and fancy candies. Pat was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and the cornerstone of two 5-Generation family lines. Upon Russ’s retirement from the Kankakee Police in 1978, they operated the Clemans Auction Gallery until 1985. Pat was instrumental in all aspects of the auction business that featured more than 60 auctions, 12 flea markets, and assorted special events annually. After selling the auction business, Pat and Russ rode Honda Goldwing and Harley Davidson motorcycles with friends and members of the Blue Nights Police Motorcycle Club throughout the US. From the sandy beaches of Florida to the top of Pike’s Peak, they had many stories of the great times they had on two wheels with their buddies. Raising their family in Kankakee, Pat and Russ moved to Manteno in retirement and after Russ’s death Pat returned to West Kankakee in 2010. Most recently she resided at Riverside/Westwood for five years prior to a short time of residence at Riverside/Miller after a fall six weeks ago. Pat was at Miller under Uplifted Hospice care when she passed with Kathy and Connie by her side the night of June 30, 2026. Surviving are one son, Terry & Kay Clemans of Marietta, IL; two daughters, Kathy & Jim Understahl of Kankakee and Connie & Vince Wietrzykowski of Bradley; six grandchildren, Michael & Christine Joiner of Kankakee, Brian & Bridget Joiner of Kankakee, Brandon Joiner & Natalie Lattimer of Watseka, Kyle & Julie Joiner of Essex, David & Jerricca Prairie of Fairbury, and Travis Wiertzykowski of Bradley; eleven great-grandchildren, Alyssa & Luke Hays, Kelsey & Nathan Carpenter, Zach Joiner & Courtney Cooper, Jaydon Joiner, Jesse Joiner, Rowan Joiner, Jaxson Joiner, Able Joiner, Paislee Prairie, Paige Prairie and Phoenix Prairie; two great-great-grandchildren, Olivia Hays & Eli Hays, Cameron & Dakota Joiner; and her daughter from another mother, Denis Kuffel. In addition to her husband, Rusell Clemans, Patricia is preceded in death by everyone from her generation of the family, in-law and all sides, one son, Gary Clemans, killed at 19 years of age in 1976. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Schreffer Funeral Home in Kankakee. Interment will follow at Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Aroma Township. Memorial may be made to Uplifted Care Hospice of Kankakee.
